Online Psychologist in Texas
People come to me for different reasons. Some have been managing a chronic condition for years. Some are exhausted by anxiety they can’t explain. Some keep landing in the same painful pattern with the people closest to them. Others are in the middle of a transition- a diagnosis, a loss, a change they didn’t choose- and are finding it heavier than they expected. What they have in common is that none of them expected to still be dealing with this.
You don’t need a stressful drive and a waiting room to get help with that.
I’m Shruti Surya, Ph.D. a licensed psychologist. I work with adults across Texas by video from my practice in College Station to Houston, Dallas, Austin, and everywhere in between. After 15 years, I’ve heard most of it. You don’t need the right words for what’s happening- we’ll find them together.
I am currently accepting new clients.
Serving clients across Texas
Texas is a big state, and specialists are not evenly distributed. If you live outside a major metro, finding a psychologist who works with chronic pain or chronic illness can mean a long drive – or no option at all.
Online therapy removes that problem. I see clients anywhere in Texas, including:
Major metros: Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin, San Antonio, El Paso, Arlington, Plano, Frisco, The Woodlands, Sugar Land, Katy
Central and East Texas: College Station, Bryan, Waco, Temple, Killeen, Tyler, Longview, Beaumont, Huntsville, Nacogdoches
West Texas and the Panhandle: Lubbock, Amarillo, Midland, Odessa, Abilene, San Angelo
South Texas and the Valley: Corpus Christi, McAllen, Brownsville, Harlingen, Laredo, Victoria
If your town is not on this list, it does not matter. Anywhere in Texas works.

How online therapy works
Sessions happen by secure video. You will need a private space, a reliable internet connection, and a phone, tablet, or computer with a camera. That is all.
Booking. Start with a free 20-minute consultation. We will talk about what is going on and whether I am the right fit. There is no pressure to schedule after it.
Your first session. The first full session is mostly history — what brought you here, what you have already tried, what you want to be different. You will leave with a sense of the plan.
Ongoing sessions. Most clients meet weekly at first. Some move to every other week as things stabilize.
The platform. Sessions are held on a HIPAA-compliant video platform SimplePractice. You will get a link before each session. Nothing to install.
Paperwork and scheduling are handled through a secure client portal.
Licensed in Texas
I am a licensed psychologist in the state of Texas, license #38571, regulated by the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council.
I hold a doctorate in psychology. That matters less than fit does – but if you have been through several providers already, it is reasonable to want to know the training behind the person you are talking to.
My approach
Mental health is health. Just as we care for the body in many ways, we can approach the mind with a variety of tools.
In our sessions, I blend evidence-based talk therapy with body-based and mindfulness strategies. Some days we might explore patterns or stuck emotions. Other days we focus on nervous system regulation or building practical tools. Everything is shaped by your needs and your pace.
The approaches I draw on include:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)
Prolonged Exposure (PE)
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
Mindfulness and somatic interventions
Motivational Interviewing
Relational and attachment-focused therapy
Whether you’re processing trauma, living with chronic illness or pain, or managing daily stress and anxiety, we’ll find a rhythm that supports your healing.

Common questions
Yes. As a psychologist licensed in Texas, I can see any client physically located in Texas at the time of the session, from El Paso to Beaumont.
For most concerns, research finds outcomes comparable to in-person treatment. For chronic pain and chronic illness specifically, telehealth has a practical advantage – you do not have to be well enough to travel on a bad day.
In Texas, I am in-network with Aetna and Carelon Behavioral Health, with BCBS PPO, United, and Medicare in progress. If you have another plan, out-of-network reimbursement is often available. See insurance and payment.
$165 for a standard 50+ minute session, $225 for a 90-minute structured session, before any insurance benefit.
Yes. I currently have openings and can usually schedule a consultation within a week.
No. I work with individuals, including people whose main concern is a relationship. If you are looking for couples therapy, I am happy to point you toward someone who does that work.
A private space, a reliable internet connection, and a device with a camera. I will send a secure link before each session.
No referral is needed. If you are using insurance, a diagnosis is generally required for billing; paying out of pocket avoids that.
