Yes, I Accept Insurance.
In Texas, I’m in-network with Aetna, BCBS and Carelon Behavioral Health insurance. BSAW Health Plan, United, and Medicare are in progress. Message me with your plan and I’ll tell you exactly where it stands.
What you’d pay with insurance
If I’m in-network with your insurance plan, you pay your copay or coinsurance, usually after your deductible is met. The amount depends on your specific plan, not on me. Your insurer can give you the number, or I can help you figure out what to ask.
Outside Texas
Through PSYPACT, I’m authorized to work with clients in 43 participating states. Those sessions are generally private pay.
Out of Network
If I don’t currently accept your insurance, many clients are still reimbursed for sessions through their out-of-network benefits.
I’m considered an out-of-network provider with most PPO plans. Depending on your plan, you may be eligible for full or partial reimbursement.
If you’d like to use those benefits, I provide a monthly superbill, a detailed receipt you submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. For more details read my article on exactly what a superbill is. You pay me directly at the time of the session, and your insurer reimburses you.
Why Some Clients Choose to Pay Cash
- You have full control over your care, no diagnosis required to get started
- No diagnosis goes into your permanent insurance record
- Your privacy is protected (insurance companies won’t request your records)
- You can choose the treatment approach that fits best, not what’s required by a plan
- You’re not limited by session count or insurance-approved timelines
Questions to Ask Your Insurance Provider:
Call the member services number on the back of your insurance card and ask:
- Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?
- What is my deductible, and has it been met?
- What is my co-insurance?
- Are telehealth sessions covered?
- How many sessions per year does my plan cover?
- Is pre-approval required from my primary care doctor?
- What is the reimbursement rate for out-of-network therapy?
- Do I need to submit claims myself, or does the provider?
Good Faith Estimate
You have a legal right to have an estimate of your cost of treatment. Here is a link to the No surprises Act Toolkit. Please ask me if you have any questions.
