Welcome. I’m Dr. Shruti Surya.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, trauma, chronic illness, pain, or depression—know that you’re not alone.
I’m here to support you through therapy that’s both evidence-based and human-centered.
Together, we’ll explore what’s been weighing you down, and help you move forward with more clarity, confidence, and self-trust.
About My Work
I’m a licensed psychologist (Texas License #: 38571) offering online therapy to adults across Texas.
My approach is grounded in research, but shaped by real human connection. I believe mental health can’t be separated from the rest of your life—your body, your relationships, your background, and your lived experience. Therapy with me is collaborative and tailored to who you are, not just what you’re going through.
Professional Background
- Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology – Texas A&M University
- Predoctoral Internship – Central Texas VA Health Care System
- Postdoctoral Fellowship – Health Psychology, Baylor Scott & White Medical Center
- In practice since 2012
I’ve worked in large hospital systems, VA centers, rural telehealth clinics, and private practice settings. These experiences taught me that no matter what someone is facing, we all need a place to feel heard, safe, and supported.
My Approach
Mental health is health. Just as we care for the body in many ways, we can approach the mind with a variety of tools.
In our sessions, I blend evidence-based talk therapy with body-based and mindfulness strategies. Some days we might explore patterns or stuck emotions. Other days, we may focus on nervous system regulation or building practical tools. Everything we do is shaped by your needs and your pace.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
- Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)
- Prolonged Exposure (PE)
- Mindfulness and somatic interventions
- Motivational Interviewing
- Relational and Attachment-Focused Therapy
Whether you’re processing trauma, living with chronic illness or pain, or managing daily stress and anxiety, we’ll find a rhythm that supports your healing.
A Little More About Me
If you’re wondering—my first name is pronounced like “Ruthie,” but with a “sh” at the beginning.
When I’m not working with clients, I’m usually outside helping build a farm with my husband (and our crew of cats, dogs, and other animals). I also love reading, mentoring psychology students, and exploring the connection between mind and body through neuroscience and mindfulness.
During virtual sessions, you might meet Supervisor Simba, my cat, who often drops by to supervise.
My Goal as a Therapist
Starting therapy can feel vulnerable—even intimidating. Whether you’re new to it or returning after time away, my goal is to offer a space that feels safe, respectful, and empowering. Together, we’ll uncover what’s most important to you, and build insight, tools, and momentum that support real change.
You don’t have to have it all figured out to get started. You just have to be willing to begin.
I’d be honored to walk with you.
