My Approach

I view mental health in a holistic perspective and as it relates to our general well being. This includes the well being of our emotional, relational, and physical health. I utilize an integrative and empirically researched set of tools to facilitate change and understand that one size does not often fit all. As human beings, we are naturally influenced by the environment around us- our family and culture, important past experiences, age, gender, community, and so on. I recognize the impact these have on our overall well being and mental health.

Thus, I carefully implement techniques tailored to your unique needs. For those interested in incorporating aspects of their physical well being into mental health I offer ways to help understand the mind-body connection through the use of education, mindfulness, deep breathing, and other body-based exercises. The mind and body are often connected in fascinating ways that, when understood, can foster confidence and growth.

I practice using a Person-Centered and Psychodynamic foundation which helps my clients build more self awareness and insight into behavioral, cognitive, and emotional patterns. To then help you put awareness into practice, I use specific tools from empirically based treatment interventions including:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
  • Cognitive Processing Therapy
  • Prolonged Exposure
  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy
  • Somatic and Mindfulness practices
  • Motivational Interviewing
  • Relational Therapy
